First Community Art Exhibition: Less Is More (2021)

〈Less is more〉is my first community art project. It is dedicated to To Kwa Wan, an old district in Hong Kong. The project was founded under a programme called《To Kee after sunset》. I was thinking back and forth on how to infiltrate aesthetic activities limited to pure art and refine culture into every corner of daily life; how to use imagination to eliminate the boundaries of life between each other.

During the programme, I explored the beauty beneath story of To Kwa Wan with the guidance of the tutors, South Ho, Bouie Choi, Wong Wing Tong and Paddy Ng. The story of a Thai restaurant, The Alley, was one of the interesting part in my exploration. The alley behind the restaurant always gather a crowd of people who are chit-chatting or smoking after enjoying a tasty meal in the restaurant. Then, I have decided to showcase my works 〈Less is more〉, composed of 6 photos of street snaps in To Kwa Wan, in the alley. It brings talking points to strangers and presents the unseen beauty of this cultural and vintage district. Let's check out the series.
