Hong Kong is a city with lots of pressure, people are always striving for their lives. If you could spot this poster at this unobtrusive corner, why not spending a minute to sense and be aware of your own mood? Tear down the colour that can represent your mood of the day and remember it.
Do we decide our mood, or does it decide our lives?

MAY THE COUNTRY BE PROSPEROUS AND THE PEOPLE AT PEACE

Aberdeen, 2022

The photos were taken in Aberdeen, Hong Kong. Aberdeen was a traditional town with fishing industry. These ships were idled due to the moratorium during the time. The fishermen were religious and they had a tradition to hang up flags writing a wish “May The Country Be Prosperous and The People at Peace (Chinese: 國泰民安). The national flags of China were also hanged due to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day this year. Different types of permutation in terms of lines, shapes and objects were shown in the series in order to symbolise the social order under the reign of HKSAR and the Chinese government. Given the situation of freedom being oppressed in Hong Kong, will the wish of fishermen come true? Or just another social order?

LESS IS MORE

To Kwa Wan Community Art Project, 2021

This series was my first community art project. It was dedicated to To Kwa Wan, an old district in Hong Kong. I was thinking back and forth on how to infiltrate aesthetic activities limited to pure art and refine culture into every corner of daily life; how to use imagination to eliminate the boundaries of  life between each other. The series was created to Look for the simple aesthetics belonging to To Kwa Wan (Hong Kong), and express the relationship between the public space and people of To Kwa Wan through the mutual gaze of light, lines, patterns and figures.

WHO 是誰

Central and Western District, 2022

"Who" seems to be a question: "Who am I? Who are they?" Asking "Who" is like self-denial: "Who" is not anyone's who, and can be anyone's who.

From antique streets to business districts, who has experienced regime change, and who come from all over the place to gather here? Under the repression of norms, who derived the commonality of the "new era" and was labelled as indifferent and utilitarian? This place is unpredictable, who is constructing identity from it?

The series explores the interdependence between my city and the self.

The styling is a mime costume, which is a metaphor for Hong Kong that has never had the right to speak. We put on smiling masks without expressing our emotions, entertaining people with exaggerated body movements and hiding our true selves. The saying "Fake it till made it" is popular in Hong Kong. Wearing white gloves symbolises a pair of dirty hands hidden in the middle, covering up the discord in our city at all levels.

It's me, it's them, it's you.

Central and Western District, 2022
